Why I Created Bright Start

For more than 40 years, I have dedicated my career to helping young children develop a love of learning. Throughout that time, I have worked with hundreds of children, their families and many teachers, gaining first-hand experience of what gives children the confidence to succeed.

I hold a First Class BEd in Early Childhood Education, a Master's Degree in Education (MA), and an OfSTED qualification specialising in Primary Education and the Early Years. These qualifications, together with four decades of practical classroom and leadership experience, inspired me to create the Bright Start Literacy Programme.

I developed Bright Start because I believe that learning to read should be enjoyable, confidence-building and free from unnecessary pressure. Every book has been carefully written to introduce new words in small, manageable steps, allowing children to experience success from the very beginning.

My aim is for every child to finish each book with the proud feeling of saying, "I can read!"

Bright Start has been created not only as a reading programme, but as a complete resource to support parents, teachers and carers in helping children become confident, enthusiastic readers.

My hope is that Bright Start will give every child the strongest possible foundation for a lifetime of learning.
